This new kids-friendly listening exhibition in the MAS is the perfect mix between museum and adventure

A new kids and parent friendly listening expo in the beautiful setting of the MAS (Museum Aan de Stroom): if you ask us, they clearly know how to celebrate their 10th birthday. A fairytale setting with giants, rats, mythical figures, an audio guide and the fantastic test family of Femke & Jeroen. If you say party, say no more, then we are there with Maison Slash*!

Put on your headphones and listen

From November, you can fully immerse yourself in the various Antwerp myths, legends and stories on the third floor of the MAS using beautiful decors and an audio guide. Put on your headphones and Tine Embrechts will take you as the main character Kameleonie through the various stories. You may know Brabo, the Swan Knight and the Lange Wapper by name, but do you know the real story behind them?
We sent slashparents Femke and Jeroen together with their children Miel (12) and Nell (9) to the opening and they listened to their expert ear. On their Instagram channel hiphoeragepaktengezakt they often give fun tips for trips with children. The family had only just been to Antwerp, but then the MAS was closed. Damn you corona, but now was the ideal opportunity to make up for that!

The ideal mix between listening, experiencing and dancing

If you are thinking: 'Oh, going to a museum with ours, that's not going to work', then you are wrong! The MAS made the listening exhibition completely child-friendly. You get an audio guide and with each story everyone can choose between listening to the story or choosing the song right away. It is best to provide your own earphones. Femke is already a fan: 'I was very curious how my children playing outside, romping around would experience this, but they were immediately absorbed in the magic. You walk through various Antwerp legends and myths in your own unique way (we like it!). My son Miel plays football and is a fan of Beerschot, so the story of the origin of the nickname 'the rats' of the Beerschot supporters was completely tailored to him. This is the perfect mix between museum and adventure. Wooden constructions have been made for each story, a theatre has been built and there are murals everywhere, something that was great for Nell. She skipped the stories and went straight to the songs, so she could dance through the entire expo between the sets!'
